Hello there!
Throughout 2014, I loved lots of different nail polishes. From deep and dark purples to pastel blues, I definitely went out of my comfort zone on a mission to find the perfect shades for my fair skin! Having such light skin, it can be difficult to find colours and tones that bring out the warmth in my skin rather than making me look even paler! However, I’m glad to say I found some real treasures this year – not only in the shades, but also in quality and durability!
So here are my 2014 Nail Polish favourites…
My season essentials (from left to right):
Autumn – OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘Pamplona Purple’ – a warm, rich purple. All of these beauties deserve an award, but this one in particular is just incredible. You only need one coat, and the formula is really easy to apply and super glossy…no top coat needed!
Winter – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Merino Cool’ – a cool-toned mauve, grey. This unusual shade was definitely well loved during winter… the colour reminds me of hot chocolate, and looks lovely on all skin tones! All of the Essie nail polish formulas are really smooth and opaque, and long lasting!
Spring – L’oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish in ‘Flashing Lilac’ (828) – a bright, fun fuschia with a sheer finish. This bright pink is super fun and surprisingly suited my completion really well! I find it difficult to wear hot pinks, but this cool-toned shade was perfect!
Summer – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Bikini so teeny’ – a very opaque pastel, baby blue. One word…wow. I never imagined a pastel blue would look so pretty and chic! This opaque colour is the perfect combination of baby blue with a hint of purple, creating a unique pastel shade which I absolutely loved during summer for something different.
My most worn shades (from left to right):
Favourite pastel – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Go Ginza’ – a super opaque baby pink! This last year particularly, I loved my pastels and this pretty-in-pink shade complements my skin tone perfectly and applies really smoothly for a pastel nail polish.
Best clear – Sally Hansen X-treme wear Nail Colour in ‘Invisible’ (100) – this has been a long-time favourite, it creates a long lasting shine and dries really quickly. I use this as both a base and top coat, and it makes my nail polish smooth, durable and really glossy.
Overall most worn – OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘The Thrill of Brazil’ – a rich cool-toned red which I wear all year round. It is a dream to apply, with an amazing formulation…absolutely no clumps! The colour is beautiful and an essential for every skin tone.
I absolutely recommend all of these nail polishes, especially for fair skin tones. Comment below and let me know what you’re favourites have been for 2014! ♥

What do you think about nail stickies?

I love them for designs that I could never paint on my nails, like intricate shapes and patterns! And for some reason, I find good-quality stickers with a top coat can last ever longer than nail polish! x

If you like nail polish you should give Ciate London a try! Not sure whether they ship out to Australia yet but it’s definitely worth looking at. They’re amazing! Cute blog 🙂 x
