Urban Decay ‘Naked’ Palette ♡

Hello there!

I firstly have to say, eyeshadow palettes just happen to be my ‘splurge’ makeup product, and the product I get most excited about trying! I mean is there anything better than the feeling of swatching creamy, shimmery eyesdahows and lusting over the gorgeous colours? There are plenty of stunning palettes out there, but one that I have wanted for the longest time is Urban Decay’s ‘Naked’ palette which I have heard nothing but good things about. However due to both the price and living in Australia where Urban Decay isn’t sold, I have never been able to purchase one…until a bright sunny day last month whilst in a LA Sephora! And boy, was it worth the wait.

First up, the packaging is stunning! I love the furry brown exterior which makes the palette ideal for travel, as this will act as a soft protective layer which will prevent the eyeshadows from crumbling. The palette also comes with a double-ended brush, one end of the brush is dense (perfect for application) and the other end is duo-fibre (ideal for blending in the crease).

I wish I had purchased this palette online sooner! The variety of colours and quality of the shadows means it can replace a whole bunch of other palettes as you’re ‘go-to’ for all kinds of makeup looks. I usually use the first 6 during the day, and the last 6 for more dramatic night-time smokey eyes!

This palette has a great variety of both shimmery and matte shades, so you don’t need to use another palette to create a balanced look (which I find with some other palettes). Here is how I like to use the colours:

Highlight shades (inner corner and brow bone): Virgin, Sin

Lid shades (day): Sidecar, Half Baked, Toasted

Lid shades (night): Smog, Darkhorse, Gunmetal

Crease shades: Naked & Buck (day), Hustle & Creep (night)

My absolute favourite shades are Sidecar, Half Baked & Darkhorse – I’m a sucker for creamy shimmery shades for the lid and these beauties are definitely well-loved and well-used.

  • packaging – not only does it look lovely but is also ideal for travel
  • range of colours and tones – day-to-night palette with matte and shimmery shades
  • quality – the eyeshadows themselves are creamy, pigmented and long-lasting
  • added double-ended brush – one side for application and one duo-fibre for blending

  • price – the palette retails for $54, but I think it is totally worth the money
  • availability – if like me, you live in Australia or a country where Urban Decay products aren’t sold, you will have to order it online

I absolutely recommend this palette, whether you’re a beginner to using eyeshadows or are well experienced in the field. As far as the palette itself goes, it’s faultless in my eyes and worth the investment!

2014 Nail Polish Awards ♡

Hello there!

Throughout 2014, I loved lots of different nail polishes. From deep and dark purples to pastel blues, I definitely went out of my comfort zone on a mission to find the perfect shades for my fair skin! Having such light skin, it can be difficult to find colours and tones that bring out the warmth in my skin rather than making me look even paler! However, I’m glad to say I found some real treasures this year – not only in the shades, but also in quality and durability!

So here are my 2014 Nail Polish favourites…

My season essentials (from left to right):

Autumn – OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘Pamplona Purple’ – a warm, rich purple. All of these beauties deserve an award, but this one in particular is just incredible. You only need one coat, and the formula is really easy to apply and super glossy…no top coat needed!

Winter – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Merino Cool’ – a cool-toned mauve, grey. This unusual shade was definitely well loved during winter… the colour reminds me of hot chocolate, and looks lovely on all skin tones! All of the Essie nail polish formulas are really smooth and opaque, and long lasting!

Spring – L’oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish in ‘Flashing Lilac’ (828)  – a bright, fun fuschia with a sheer finish. This bright pink is super fun and surprisingly suited my completion really well! I find it difficult to wear hot pinks, but this cool-toned shade was perfect!

Summer – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Bikini so teeny’ – a very opaque pastel, baby blue. One word…wow. I never imagined a pastel blue would look so pretty and chic! This opaque colour is the perfect combination of baby blue with a hint of purple, creating a unique pastel shade which I absolutely loved during summer for something different.

My most worn shades (from left to right):

Favourite pastel – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Go Ginza’ – a super opaque baby pink! This last year particularly, I loved my pastels and this pretty-in-pink shade complements my skin tone perfectly and applies really smoothly for a pastel nail polish.

Best clear – Sally Hansen X-treme wear Nail Colour in ‘Invisible’ (100) – this has been a long-time favourite, it creates a long lasting shine and dries really quickly. I use this as both a base and top coat, and it makes my nail polish smooth, durable and really glossy.

Overall most worn – OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘The Thrill of Brazil’ – a rich cool-toned red which I wear all year round. It is a dream to apply, with an amazing formulation…absolutely no clumps! The colour is beautiful and an essential for every skin tone.

I absolutely recommend all of these nail polishes, especially for fair skin tones. Comment below and let me know what you’re favourites have been for 2014! ♥

A little about me ♡

Well hello there, and welcome to my blog!

I can’t believe I am finally sitting here and writing my first blog post, it’s as nerve-racking as it is exciting! I have been wanting to start my blog for a while, but never quite found the right moment to begin. However as 2015 begins and my New Year Resolutions are still lingering in the back of my mind…I have decided it’s time!

I first knew I wanted to start a blog a couple of months ago, when I was doing a friend’s makeup and I began babbling about the products I was using and she looked at me confused. “How do you know all this?” she asked, puzzled, and surprisingly I was just as puzzled as she was. How did I know all this? How did I know eyebrows filled in closer together slimmed the nose, or that bronzey shades would complement her blue eyes the most? And then it hit me.

Through blogs and Youtube videos, I had acquired all this knowledge on everything beauty related and subsequently, a love and passion for sharing this.

So, who am I? Well, I am 17 years old from Sydney Australia, and have been loving makeup since I was 14. I have a small but crazy family, and am currently in my last year of school! I love to bake, watch movies (thrillers and comedies), experiment with makeup, buy makeup, read blogs and swim!

Favourite makeup brands: Rimmel (mainly for creating my all-time favourite, holy-grail ‘Stay Matte’ powder and ‘Wake me up’ concealer), Urban Decay, MAC cosmetics, NYX and Chi-Chi Cosmetics.

Favourite TV shows: The Office, Sherlock, Pretty Little Liars, Keeping up with the Kardashians & AHS.

Favourite colour: purple and light blue.

Favourite food: weirdly, avocado! and also chocolate.

So there’s a little about me. I hope you enjoy my blog and stay tuned for my thoughts, advice and beauty gossip!
