YSL Touche Éclat ♡

Hello there!

Now I don’t often splurge on high-end makeup but after hearing about the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat highlighting pen, I knew I wanted to try it out. I also have a slight obsession with concealers and new face products, so I was very excited to try this!

I’d heard that this product can sometimes be misunderstood and now, I totally understand why. While some do use it as a concealer, I definitely love this as a highlighter as I’ve found that it’s not the pen’s coverage that makes it special but its amazing reflective highlight. Because of this, I love to use it as a highlighter on top of foundation and concealer, placing the highlighter under the eye, on the top of the cheekbones and in the centre of the forehead.

The product is lovely and silky smooth, making it easy to blend particularly with the little brush applicator. The way this highlights is gorgeous, it has a light & thin consistency with a pink undertone to create a natural, blended glow. I particularly love this under the eye both on top of concealer to add brightness and on it’s own when I don’t want too much coverage (however I do use less concealer under the eye when applying this on top so they don’t become too thick and crease!)

Because of the lovely thin consistency, the product doesn’t look thick on the skin and you can use it in a variety of places to highlight:

  • the brow bone: to create a stronger arched brow
  • cupid’s bow: to create the illusion of a larger, poutier top lip
  • nose bridge: to slim the nose draw a straight line down the centre
  • forehead centre: to slim the face
  • inner corner and under eye: to cancel out under eye darkness and add brightness (helps you look wide awake and well-rested!)
  • cheekbones: draw a line on the tops of the cheekbones to lift them

These tips for highlighting can be used with a range of different products, including liquid highlighters and illuminators, and some powders. The same effect can also be used by using a face powder that is a few shades lighter than your own!

While this product is high-end and pricey ($42) , it is definitely worth the splurge as a little goes a long way so it will last a long time, and it adds a beautiful, natural highlight & glow to the skin. I love the way it brightens the under eye area making your eyes look more open and awake!
