Go-to Lip Combo! ♡

Hello there!

Finding the perfect lip combo is quite the accomplishment! Especially if like me, you’re quite fussy when it comes to lip shades. My favourite lip products to wear are usually baby pinks or nudes (but never lighter than the shade of my skin!). The combination of these three products creates the perfect everyday lip look, and together are super long lasting! During the day, the only product I’ll take with me to touch up is the gloss as it has it’s own lovely pink sheen.

Lip liner: Smashbox Always Sharp lip liner in ‘Nude Fair – I always love applying lip liner even when I’m wearing a pink/nude lip, as it frames your lips, and when applied correctly – can make them appear bigger and more full. I like to line my lips, and then extend the lip liner into the centre so that even after my lipstick and gloss have faded, the lip liner is still coming through!

Lipstick: MAC Lustre lipstick in ‘Patisserie’ – the formula of this lipstick is really creamy and smooth – even though it’s quite glossy with some shimmer. It never leaves my lips looking dry and adds a really subtle pink hue, matching the lip liner perfectly!

Gloss: MAC Cremesheen Glass in ‘Just Superb’ – I don’t often find lip glosses that I enjoy wearing as they can sometimes be really sticky and uncomfortable on the lips. However this gloss from MAC while being super glossy, is comfortable to wear and surprisingly moisturising! It has just the right amount of pigment to add a final layer of colour to my lips.

2014 Nail Polish Awards ♡

Hello there!

Throughout 2014, I loved lots of different nail polishes. From deep and dark purples to pastel blues, I definitely went out of my comfort zone on a mission to find the perfect shades for my fair skin! Having such light skin, it can be difficult to find colours and tones that bring out the warmth in my skin rather than making me look even paler! However, I’m glad to say I found some real treasures this year – not only in the shades, but also in quality and durability!

So here are my 2014 Nail Polish favourites…

My season essentials (from left to right):

Autumn – OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘Pamplona Purple’ – a warm, rich purple. All of these beauties deserve an award, but this one in particular is just incredible. You only need one coat, and the formula is really easy to apply and super glossy…no top coat needed!

Winter – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Merino Cool’ – a cool-toned mauve, grey. This unusual shade was definitely well loved during winter… the colour reminds me of hot chocolate, and looks lovely on all skin tones! All of the Essie nail polish formulas are really smooth and opaque, and long lasting!

Spring – L’oreal Colour Riche Nail Polish in ‘Flashing Lilac’ (828)  – a bright, fun fuschia with a sheer finish. This bright pink is super fun and surprisingly suited my completion really well! I find it difficult to wear hot pinks, but this cool-toned shade was perfect!

Summer – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Bikini so teeny’ – a very opaque pastel, baby blue. One word…wow. I never imagined a pastel blue would look so pretty and chic! This opaque colour is the perfect combination of baby blue with a hint of purple, creating a unique pastel shade which I absolutely loved during summer for something different.

My most worn shades (from left to right):

Favourite pastel – Essie Nail Lacquer in ‘Go Ginza’ – a super opaque baby pink! This last year particularly, I loved my pastels and this pretty-in-pink shade complements my skin tone perfectly and applies really smoothly for a pastel nail polish.

Best clear – Sally Hansen X-treme wear Nail Colour in ‘Invisible’ (100) – this has been a long-time favourite, it creates a long lasting shine and dries really quickly. I use this as both a base and top coat, and it makes my nail polish smooth, durable and really glossy.

Overall most worn – OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘The Thrill of Brazil’ – a rich cool-toned red which I wear all year round. It is a dream to apply, with an amazing formulation…absolutely no clumps! The colour is beautiful and an essential for every skin tone.

I absolutely recommend all of these nail polishes, especially for fair skin tones. Comment below and let me know what you’re favourites have been for 2014! ♥
